FAIRY TALE GARDEN KINDERGARTEN
WORK DONE AT ARCHIKON CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP
Budapest, 2014
The building, which houses 16 kindergarten groups and a playhouse, was built as a conversion of a previous kindergarten building with 8 groups, commissioned by the 13th district government of Budapest. Due to the size of the plot, it was only possible to accommodate such a large number of children in a multi-storey building, so the upper groups were placed on the upper floor.
were added. The garden and playground on the roof provide additional space for them to move around. The compact and strict crowd is given a playful feel by the curved playgrounds that extend to the lower floors, skylights and windows scattered on the facade. The surrounding buildings tower like giants over the 3-story building, so the roof appears as if it were a 5th floor.
The facade plays an important role. The district's urban development concept, which encourages the design of compact and energy-efficient buildings, was decisive in the installation of the kindergarten, so the building also obtained passive certification.
